Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles was booming with the counterculture movement in the mid to late 1960s. Famous artists at the time (including Joni Mitchell, Frank Zappa, and of course Jim Morrison and his companion Pam Courson, among others) called Laurel Canyon “home.”
Laurel Canyon as it was back in the sixties is often romanticized nowadays by famous artists who are disillusioned with twenty-first century pop music and culture. The overall cultural shift of the1960s seems to be an era of fascination for many.
